ya forget one thing esp in 1944 - the German Panzertruppen nearly always had either some form of FLAK esp Light FLAK nearby a Panzer Group or at the least like the U-Bootwaffe they would have had one man on the Panzers always watching the sky in case a brace of Typhoons or worse still a squadron of Lancaster's or Hali faxes arrived overhead with little or no warning and promptly began to bomb the crap out of them.
Even when moving at night they were often targeted by Mosquito's on Night Intruder Operations.
